Hemp Seed

Antioxidant Power: Along with a healthy quotient of essential fatty acids, hemp seed oil contains the antioxidant power of vitamins A and E.  Antioxidants are a mainstay in skincare offerings as they help protect against environmental and lifestyle stressors and have been shown to have anti-ageing properties.
Pro Ageing: Hemp seed oil is rich in essential fatty acids such as omega 3, 6, 9, including GLA.  These essential fats help support the skin cells and provide nutrients to encourage cellular rejuvenation and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Healing and Soothing: The omega fatty acids in hemp seed oil soothe and lower skin inflammation – this is particularly true of the GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) component which helps to calm the redness of irritated skin, heal cracked dry skin, aiding skin repair, and wound healing. Beneficial as a treatment for eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea.
Moisturising and Hydrating: When it comes to moisture, hemp seed oil is a multi-tasker. First off, it’s a humectant which means it draws moisture to the skin. In addition, the omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, plus vitamin E help form a skin barrier simultaneously softening and strengthening the skin and locking moisture in.

Hibiscus

Hydration: Hibiscus oil is rich in essential fatty acids, which help to moisturize and hydrate the skin. This can be especially beneficial for individuals with dry or dehydrated skin.
Reduce Aging: Hibiscus oil contains antioxidants that can help neutralize free radicals, which are molecules that can damage the skin and accelerate the aging process. Antioxidants can contribute to a healthier and more youthful complexion.
Exfoliation: Hibiscus oil contains natural acids, such as citric and malic acids, which can gently exfoliate the skin. Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, promoting a smoother and brighter complexion.
Emollient Properties: The oil has emollient properties, meaning it forms a protective and moisturizing layer on the skin's surface. This helps to smooth and soften the skin, preventing water loss and enhancing overall hydration.
Humectant Qualities: Hibiscus oil also has humectant qualities, which means it attracts and retains moisture from the environment. This can be particularly beneficial in preventing dehydration and maintaining skin suppleness.

Jojoba

Mirrors your skins natural sebum: Jojoba wax is a lot like human skin sebum, the oil your skin makes to stay moisturized and supple. Because jojoba oil is so similar to sebum and has a high vitamin E content, it's an an excellent skin softener that can smooth dry skin, prevent flakiness, and improve skin elasticity.
Non-Acnegenic: Because Jojoba Oil is very similar to human skin oils, its use can trick the skin into thinking it has produced enough oil and thus balance oil production, without promoting acne or other skin problems. Jojoba also naturally deters microbes. (helping to prevent the growth of bacteria on skin.)
Soothes Dry Skin: Jojoba Oil has anti-inflammatory properties which help to tame chaffing and chapping, reduce redness caused by drying, ease the effects of eczema and rosacea, and keep skin calm and comfortable. The Vitamin E and B-complex vitamins in the Jojoba Oil help in skin repair and damage control.
Improve the skin barrier: Loaded with antioxidants, such as vitamins A and E, and omega-6 fatty acids, which are essential components of the skin’s barrier. It also acts as a humectant, meaning it works to retain moisture in the skin. This protective layer, combined with the anti-inflammatory effects of the vitamin E, gives skin the breather necessary to focus on the healing process.

Pomegranate

Sun Protection: While not a replacement for sunscreen, some studies suggest that pomegranate oil may have mild sun-protective effects. It could potentially help protect the skin from damage caused by UV rays.
Anti-Microbial Properties: Pomegranate oil has shown some antimicrobial activity, which can be beneficial for individuals with acne-prone skin. It may help inhibit the growth of certain bacteria on the skin.
Collagen Production: Pomegranate oil may stimulate collagen production in the skin. Collagen is a structural protein that helps maintain the skin's elasticity and firmness. By promoting collagen synthesis, pomegranate oil may contribute to reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Regeneration and Repair: The oil is rich in vitamins, including vitamin C, which is known for its role in skin regeneration and repair. Vitamin C helps brighten the skin, even out skin tone, and promote a healthier complexion.

Barbary Fig / Prickly Pear

Skin-soothing: Our little golden girl. Used by the Aztecs as an ointment for healing burns and abrasions it has tremendous repairing qualities for scarringPrickly pear seed oil is full of flavonoids and zinc which helps ease inflammation and calm irritation. The antiviral and antibacterial properties help address issues with acne, and the natural ingredient offers a healing touch that reduces redness and soothes sunburn.
Hydrating. The high levels of fatty acids in prickly pear seed oil help protect the skin barrier and work to reduce water loss, which ultimately improves hydration. Studies show prickly pear seed oil contains up to 70% linoleic acid which retains water, and a 2015 trial observed visible improvements for five hours in volunteers between the ages of 20-65.
Fights fine lines. Research suggests the intensive moisturising properties of Vitamin E and the ability to shield against free radicals with the help of antioxidants may aid in stimulating collagen production lessening the appearance of fine lines.
Improves skin tone. With help from vitamin K, prickly pear seed oil works to minimise broken capillaries, brighten the skin, and lighten dark circles. The sustainable ingredient also acts as a defence against hyperpigmentation, and the replenishing properties leave skin soft and smooth.

Cherry Kernal

Deep Moisturisation: Cherry kernel oil is rich in essential fatty acids, particularly oleic acid and linoleic acid, which help to deeply hydrate and nourish the skin. It forms a protective barrier on the skin's surface, preventing moisture loss and leaving the skin feeling soft and supple.
Antioxidant Protection: This oil contains potent antioxidants such as vitamin E and tocopherols, which help to protect the skin from free radical damage caused by environmental stressors like pollution and UV radiation. Antioxidants can help to slow down the signs of aging and promote a more youthful appearance.
Boosts Collagen Production: The vitamin E content in cherry kernel oil helps to support collagen production in the skin, which is essential for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness.

How to Cleanse with Oil

I ~ Oil cleansing is an ancient practice used by early Egyptian cultures for skin purification and nourishment. Unfortunately, this practice was nearly lost after the invention of industrialized facial cleansers. Whether you have dry, oily, acneic or combination skin, this “alternative” cleansing practice can benefit just about anyone. The idea of oil cleansing is based on principles of chemistry which tell us that “like dissolves like”.
II ~ The oils that coat the surface of your skin are dissolved best by using another solvent similar in composition. Mirroring a substance similar to our skins natural sebum. This method of facial cleansing can balance oil secretion in oily skin, hydrate dry skin, decrease blackhead/whiteheads or acne, and nourish deep layers of the epidermis for a healthier complexion.
